I guess it is the vicious circle... people suffer from low esteem and that is why find themselves unworthy of love they receive........

I guess you are right...its a vicious circle.
I wonder if even commitment-phobia is somewhere related to this circle.
Well I am no expert on relationships :) , but I guess that is the reason. People who are insecure inside, feel insecure to form a lasting bond with people. For letting people to know you, I guess you need to be first confident enough about yourself.
